I hope this message finds you well. Following our recent LCC + UCSD Research Partnership convening, I've been reflecting on our deep dive into relational trust, belonging, and flourishing. A highlight for me was discussing the pivotal role of social capital, emphasizing not only the importance of close connections but also the value of "weak links." These links serve as bridges, bringing together diverse perspectives and information from various contexts, a concept that resonated during our sessions.
The consensus was clear: stepping outside our daily environments is crucial for fostering these bridging relationships, which in turn, can significantly accelerate our collective learning and progress. It's through initiatives like our Research Partnership and the establishment of our Connections networks, which facilitate visits to both schools and industry partners, that we've been actively promoting and nurturing these types of relationships.
The outcomes from these collaborative efforts have been both inspiring and astounding. Every project, visit, and interaction has reinforced the incredible potential of what we can achieve together. It's a vivid reminder of the power of reaching beyond our comfort zones and embracing new connections.
As we continue on this journey, I encourage each of you to "get outside" and explore the vast possibilities that lie in collaborative innovation, several of which are included below. It's by leaning into these opportunities that we can truly build a brighter future for all.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing where our collective efforts take us next.
Yours in learner-centered collaboration,
