If there is one thing I constantly hear about posing a challenge it is professional learning. When teachers get overwhelmed with too much on their plates, the solution is often to back-off on professional learning. While too much structure can be stifling, too little can be just as crippling.
An alternative is to create a robust learning ecosystem where teachers have clear expectations and autonomy to learn, reflect, and develop in a way that meets the needs of their students and works for their context and goals.
Since teachers create what they experience, new models of learning are also a catalyst for educators to create new and better models for students. This week, I am highlighting a professional learning approach that is a win-win. Based on the school and district vision, educators can develop their practice in a way that works best for them—and students reap the benefits!
With Gratitude,
Katie
