I asked for people to reflect on what they used to think and what they now think after spending 3 days connecting, learning and asking, “what if…?” There were many that alluded to the lack of isolation that they now felt for example:
I used to think I was fighting an endless battle to change learning experiences for students. Now I think there are other passionate, excited, and forward-thinking educators fighting for the same.
I used to think I was alone in wanting change. Now I think my network of change makers will grow.
As the educators read the book and discussed connections, ideas and challenges they faced, they realized the opportunities that existed if they worked together and were able to look for ways to achieve their aspirations rather than just see the barriers. We improve when we open ourselves up to learning from others, share our ideas, and work together to make it happen. And when we improve, learners and those we serve benefit.
How might you make time to connect and explore the possibilities in your context?
