Your weekly source of learner-centered inspiration
Dear Educator,
Last week I was flying high after a week of collaborating with amazing educators. As I continue to reflect on the power of adult collaboration, I know that it is also critical for our young learners to learn, practice, and evolve in their collaboration skills as well. I am so excited to share this week’s Bright Spot that has been months (if not years) in the making.
With Gratitude, Katie

BRIGHT SPOT OF THE WEEK
Actionable, self-paced professional learning
Our team at Learner-Centered Collaborative has been working hard on bringing our educator competencies to life in a way that enhances the support we provide educators in the shift to learner-centered practices. We have hosted virtual events, in-person workshops, and facilitated yearlong pathways or learning cycles. After many requests, we are excited to now bring you these workshops as self-paced, digital courses and I can’t wait to get your feedback!
Our first course, Spark Collaboration, is designed to support effective and equitable collaboration where all students are engaged in learning, and differences within groups are respected and celebrated. You will be provided with practical ideas to implement in your current practice right away as well as templates and plans to implement larger collaborative learning experiences.
You can learn more or sign up for an asynchronous version of the course (just $25) or a course with added facilitation by my brilliant colleague, Bryanna Hanson. You can get continuing education credits from University California, San Diego too!
Ready to Spark Collaboration in your classroom, school, or district? Sign up for our course or let's connect!
Below are some resources to support educators and leaders as they build more collaborative learning communities.
1. Scaling the collaboration pyramid. Peak collaboration is working with others to accomplish a task you can't do alone. Is true collaborative learning happening in your classroom? Explore now in this blog post.
3. What School Could Be. In this podcast episode filmmaker, author, founder, and funder Ted Dintersmith shares his insights into the world our children will live in as adults and the ways this future ought to affect the way we educate children.
