Your weekly source of learner-centered inspiration
Dear Educator,
Now, more than ever, families have greater visibility into the educational experiences of their children, and more options for how and where their children will be educated. Inviting parents into the conversation and listening to the aspirations they have for their children and what they want their learning experience to be is crucial in order to move forward together.
In this week's issue of Bright Spots, I’m excited to share more about how we are partnering with families, teachers and students of Mesa Union School District to design the future of learning.
With Gratitude, Katie
BRIGHT SPOT OF THE WEEK
Inviting Multiple Perspectives
We kicked off our first meeting with the Mesa Union Guiding Coalition which included administrators, teachers, and families. Through our discussion, we learned what is currently working for families, what isn’t as helpful, and what is possible for the future. Teachers shared how powerful it was to hear the perspective of parents. Similarly, families were grateful to be invited into the conversation. I am so excited about what we will create with the Mesa Union School District, and I am looking forward to the future of learning for both students and families.
Raul Ramirez, Superintendent of Mesa Union School District, shared:
“First meeting of @MesaUnionSchool Framework for the Future Design Team! Imagining the future and what’s possible for our Mesa learners! Thankful for @katiemartinedu for her incredible facilitation and partnership on this journey! #MovingForwardTogether”

I truly believe that through conversations and deeper connections, we can gain empathy and develop a shared vision and goals to create the future of education in each and every learning community.
