Your weekly source of learner-centered inspiration
Dear Educator,
I am so excited to share that Evolving Education, my new book, is out today. As a mom and educator, my hope is that this book validates the amazing work that educators do every day. It is also designed to push our thinking about what practices best serve learners and inspire you with stories, strategies and resources to take the next steps to evolve in your practice.
In this week’s issue of Bright Spots, I am excited to share a sneak peek of the book and some resources to guide conversations about evolving in education.
With Gratitude, Katie
BRIGHT SPOT OF THE WEEK
Celebrating the Release of Evolving Education!
In Evolving Education, I advocate for a much-needed shift to a learner-centered teaching model. The book explores how we might transform our teaching practices for the better and be more intentional about incorporating what matters most: relationships, connection, purpose, flexibility, agency, and authentic learning.
I was honored by Katie Novak’s endorsement of the book:
“Katie Martin absolutely nailed it in Evolving Education. The book continually challenges us to ask ourselves, ‘What does it mean to be successful?’ and ‘How can we design classrooms, schools, and systems to improve the lives of the students we serve?’ A learner-centered paradigm requires that we examine beliefs and biases and disrupts systems that do not serve each and every learner. This work requires innovation, creativity, flexibility, and heart. This book is the perfect mix of incredible storytelling, inspiration, and concrete strategy.”
— Katie Novak, EdD, educational consultant and author of nine books, including UDL and Blended Learning
